Nassau Athos Accumulation FIA Would You Sell a 2-Year FIA If Year 1 Was Protected?

It’s not the multi-year point-to-point story you’re thinking of. Start with a 1-year strategy. If extending later makes sense, the client can move into the longer segment after seeing actual first-year results.
+1% (100 bps) extra FIA commission through November 30, 2026 FIA applications signed and received Oct 1 – Nov 30, 2026 and issued by Feb 1, 2027.

The Difference Is Flexibility.

Your client begins in a traditional 1-Year Point-to-Point Strategy. At the end of the first contract year, if the strategy has generated a positive return, the client has two options.

Option 1: Lock In Their Gains Keep the credited interest and begin a new annual strategy, giving them the flexibility to evaluate new opportunities every year.
Option 2: Extend the Strategy If they believe the market has additional upside potential, they can extend the original strategy into a longer multi-year term. On an extended segment, if the newly declared participation rate is higher, it can apply retroactively to the beginning of the original segment. Instead of asking clients to predict the future, you are helping them make a more informed decision after they have already experienced positive performance.

90%

90% High-Water Mark Protection

During an extended strategy, 90% of the highest contract anniversary value achieved becomes the protected value for the remainder of that strategy.

PTP

Uncapped, Participation-Rate Based

Select S&P and Nasdaq-based volatility-controlled index strategies can provide uncapped index-crediting potential. The participation rate determines how much of the index return is credited.

Retroactive Rate Opportunity

On an extended segment, if the newly declared participation rate is higher, it can apply back to the start of that segment.

FAQ

Athos Questions Advisors Ask.

What is the Nassau Athos Annuity?

Athos is a single premium deferred fixed indexed annuity issued by Nassau Life and Annuity Company. Clients start in a 1-Year Point-to-Point strategy, and after a positive first year they can either lock in the credit or extend into a longer segment.

How does the lock-or-extend choice work?

At the end of the first contract year, if the strategy has a positive return, the client chooses. Locking in keeps the credited interest and starts a new annual strategy. Extending moves the original strategy into a longer multi-year term, so the decision is made after seeing actual first-year results.

What is the 90% high-water mark?

During an extended strategy, 90% of the highest contract anniversary value achieved becomes the protected value for the rest of that strategy.

How does the retroactive upgrade work?

On an extended segment, if the newly declared participation rate is higher, it can apply retroactively to the beginning of the original segment. If the rate is not higher, the upgrade does not apply.

Is Athos capped?

Select S&P and Nasdaq-based volatility-controlled index strategies are participation-rate based and uncapped. The participation rate determines how much of the index return is credited. Rates are subject to change.

Where is Athos available?

Nassau Life and Annuity Company is not authorized to do business in Maine or New York. Product features, indexed account availability and surrender charge periods vary by state.
